Who would benefit from attending antenatal classes?

Picture of pregnant woman

The classes are suitable for all pregnant women, not just women expecting their first baby. It can be useful as a refresher course for those who already have a child.

When would be the best time to attend antenatal classes?

At Pregnancy & Beyond we believe that attending classes from 20-36 weeks is appropriate. There are many issues in pregnancy for women to consider, such as rhesus status and anaemia, not just preparation for labour and birth, so the earlier you get involved the more informed you will be about your pregnancy.

What will I need for the course?

We will provide all the course material you will need. We recommend that you dress in comfortable clothes. Birthing balls will be provided for use during the course.

What is the role of the father during pregnancy and childbirth?

The course will give you the opportunity to discuss the kind of birth you are both hoping for and how you and your partner can increase the chance of achieving that birth. Your role throughout the pregnancy, and beyond is vital, providing valuable practical, physical and psychological support. The course will teach you practical skills for helping your partner, such as massage.
